the Departure – ITINERARY 9

the Departure is my very 1st and ongoing photo essay to document all my travels in abstract and straightforward images. Numbers, seats, movements, lights, terminals, buses, trains, planes, buildings, landscape, strangers and yet familiar faces with their own expression are the main particles of the Departure. To capture and embrace the priceless moment that been forgotten by crowd are the reason for me to come out with this photo essay.

the Departure mainly presented in series of black & white photographs however due to beautiful colors of the sky, sea, river and land I decide to present some of the photos in colors.

Amsterdam, I think my photos do elaborate it. :)

Peace & Freedom

peace

“Peace”
It does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble or hard work, it means to be in the midst of those thin and still, to be calm in your heart.

-PeaceHouse Bar, Chiang Mai.

“Freedom”
A state of peace in mind and soul.

-Monkey Bar, Perhentian Island.

Cheers and may Peace & Freedom be upon all. :)

Diversity is tucked into the hills surrounding Luang Prabang. During 5 hours of trekking we’ve through three distinct layers of hill tribes, culture, and life of the Hmong, the Khmu and the Lao. The Hmong live in the highest hills, the Khmu in the mid hills and the Lao in the low hills closer to river bank. Each was unique, inviting and charming. We strongly suggest go for ‘Fair Trek’ which is community based tourism project, supporting and sponsoring seven communities in the Trekking and Hiking area in Luang Prabang. In this way we can contribute to the local community here.

Here goes the 2nd part of my Euro Trip, from Paris we travel to North of France, Lille to meet Jerome & family. Its been great time staying with them especially spending time with little Eva :) And recently it have come to my knowledge that they have a new member in the family! I would like to congrats Jerome, Sophie and Eva for this news. Wish your family will have more happiness and blessing. Maybe I should pay a visit to Lille again one day. :)

From Lille then we travel to Belgium, where the awesome chocs, fries and beer is! We’ve been staying with Larissa’s family in Hasselt. She’s been our excellent tour guide around Belgium including getting our asses whacked-out by falling many time on ice during our first ice skating..hehe  Though it was one of the sweetest memory during the whole trip. :) Thanks again to Larissa and her family for this priceless memory.

Next post will be Amsterdam! Freedom! :p Till then may peace be upon all. :)

This collection is a part of my biggest trip I ever done so far. My first Europe Trip, traveling through 6 countries in 2 months.  This journey have been one of the most wonderful memories for me. Europe is very different from South East Asia in terms of many aspects, weather, building, people, culture, life style even some animals looks different ;p Though, it is unique and beautiful in its on way. So I would like to share some of the photographs that captured during this whole trip. There will be more coming soon! :)

May peace be upon all.

Pura Luhur Uluwatu is spiritually important to the people of Bali, as it is one of Bali’s sacred directional temples (kayangan jagat) protecting the island from evil spirits in the southwest.

“Ulu” means head, and “Watu” means rock; the temple at “the head of the rock” stands atop a sheer cliff rising two hundred feet above the Indian Ocean. The temple commands a wonderful view of the sea breaking against the base of the cliffs below, and a totally unforgettable sunset.

“Kecak” is derived from an old Balinese ritual called the sanghyang – a trance dance driven by its participants’ repetitive chanting. In its ancient form, the sanghyang communicated the wishes of the gods or of the ancestors.

No musical instruments are used in a kecak performance – instead, you find about thirty bare-chested men sitting in a circle, uttering “chak… chak… chak” rhythmically and repetitively. The total effect is trance-inducing – repetitive voices and outlandish costumes creating a trippy multimedia experience.

The performance plays out as the sun sets, and the culmination involves a giant fire display that is integral to the plot.

Texts are quoted from “Pura Luhur Uluwatu’s Kecak and Fire Dance” by Michael Aquino, Southeast Asia Travel Guide.
